New steel structures and glazing on the facades, modernisation of the façade, electrical and sanitary installation work – further effects of the progressive modernisation of the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium can be seen every day. Eiffage Polska Budownictwo has been carrying out intensive work since December to prepare the facility for the upcoming European Games. By the end of May, the stadium will be fully ready to welcome fans once again.
Eiffage prepares stadium for European Games
Less than two months separate us from the inauguration of the 3rd European Games, which between 21 June and 2 July will make Krakow and Malopolska the international capital of sport. Preparations for this event are in full swing. The eyes of Cracovians are on one of the most important venues for the June event – the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium in Krakow. It will be the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games and the arena for the clash of national teams in seven-a-side rugby.
Work progress
The modernisation work was initiated on 8 December, when a contract was signed with Eiffage Polska Budownictwo at the headquarters of the Sports Infrastructure Management Board in Krakow. With the beginning of the year, construction work began and has since progressed at a very fast pace, changing the appearance of the stadium with each passing week. At what stage is the modernisation currently taking place? The steel structure for the glass façade on the east, north and west sides of the stadium has already been constructed. The installation of the new glass skin (the so-called ‘second skin’) on the west side and the façade work on the media building are well advanced, and the installation work inside the facility is nearing completion.
The most important task facing the Eiffage team in the next few weeks is the installation of the complete glass façade – the so-called ‘second skin’, the final finishing of the reinforced concrete structure of the building and the completion of the remaining installation work. Despite the tight schedule, work is progressing as planned. Soon, at the end of May, we will be able to see the final result.
