Eiffage Budownictwo Mitex SA signed the contract for the completion of the Monument of Ghetto Victims by 51 Prosta Str. in Warsaw. The monument will be constructed by the hatch to the canal which let 40 rebels from the Jewish ghetto save their life. They managed to leave the ghetto through the canal and reach the Aryan part at the end of the Jewish uprising, on 10th May 1943.
The monument by Prosta Str. will be connected with the original hatch to the canal. It will be placed on triangular square which will indicate the rebels’ exit from the canal. Two walls with information in Polish, Hebrew and English as well as rebels’ names will be placed alongside the monument. The “Diaspora Memorial” Association of Records and Popularization of Central and Eastern European Jews’ Cultural Accomplishments is the investor. The monument will be built till 7th May 2010.
