“Health Resort Center, Aqua Park – balneology and swimming pool complex” in Zakopane won the second prize in the public building category at the 2006 Construction of the Year Award.
The center consists of two buildings – lower building (entrance) and upper one with swimming pool section, restaurants, public facilities and maintenance area. The most important part of Aqua Park is the indoor swimming pool area, featuring 5 slides, water cascades, artificial river, jacuzzis, water chairs, and tube slides. The pool surface is equal to 900 m², whereas the cubage of the two buildings is over 75000 m³. There are two geothermal wells on the premises used for heating purposes, feeding the central heating system of the entire center and providing warm water for an outdoor swimming pool in the winter season. There are 63 parking spots outside as well as 64-vehicle underground garage. The prime Contractor of the project – Mitex SA was retained by Polskie Tatry SA in Zakopane.
