What do Poles think about the construction industry? We conducted a street survey

How is the construction industry perceived today? Is it associated with a modern workplace open to diversity and technology, or still — as in the past — with a male-dominated world based on physical strength rather than education? We invite you to watch our street survey* and find out what Poles think about the industry.

Up close, we see change. At technical universities, the number of female students no longer differs significantly from the number of male students, and in our company, nearly 50% of all employees are women. Construction is an industry of innovation, technology, and countless development opportunities. Even so, harmful stereotypes from decades ago have not disappeared… as many of you have surely experienced firsthand.

We decided to confront these two perspectives and discover how Poles perceive the construction industry today. We first asked at the very source: at an Eiffage construction site office, where the youngest team members shared their experiences with us.

Then we took a microphone to the field — to a pedestrian and cycling footbridge in Warsaw — and gave the floor to passers-by. Do the stereotypes still hold strong? See for yourselves!

The survey is part of the “Równość Murowana” social campaign, through which we aim to draw attention to the fight against discrimination and stereotypes in the construction industry.
