OVO and Angel Care – two projects by Eiffage Polska Budownictwo – have ranked first in two categories of the Lower Silesian Construction of the Year 2016 competition.
The competition is organized by Wrocław’s branch of Związek Inżynierów i Techników Budownictwa (Association of Engineers and Technicians of Civil Engineering), under the honorary patronage of the marshal of Lower Silesia province, voivode of Lower Silesia province, the chairman of the Lower Silesian Chamber of Civil Engineers, Inspector of Construction Supervision for the Province and the rector of Wrocław Polytechnic. Its goal is to distinguish buildings erected in the Lower Silesia Province, which feature cutting-edge solutions used in all the stages of the construction process.
We are extremely happy – and in a twofold way, because our projects were distinguished in two categories, said Jacek Synowiec, Director of Contracts’ Group of Southern Region. Those are two very different buildings, and each of those constructions had its own challenges. Looking at OVO and Angel Care from the distance of several months of use I think that they go well with the landscape of modern day Wrocław, he added.
Angel Care – put into use in March of 2016 – is an interesting example of revitalization. Earlier it was a 19 c. hospital, which was transformed into a Senior Centre. The building acts as a complex care centre for seniors and people with disabilities that aggravate with age. The old have at their disposal 48 apartments and workshop, meeting and exercise rooms. The building is listed, which is why its renovation had to preserve its original structure and historical character.
OVO Wrocław was opened in August of 2016. It had been constructed in the city centre. It is a futuristic complex of apartments, offices and a 5 star Hilton hotel. For the first time in Poland modern material Corian was used to finish over 5 thousand sq. m. of the exterior walls. OVO has 9 storeys, including 2 underground. The total floor area amounts to approx. 49 thousand sq. m. In the residential part there are 168 apartments with 26 penthouses on the top floor. The structure was designed by Gottesman-Szmelcman Architecture in collaboration with JSK Architekci.
