A consortium led by Eiffage Polska Serwis (EPS) has commenced the works on the next stage of the construction project of a new Mercedes-Benz factory in Jawor. Eiffage’s partners are EQOS Energie Polska Sp. z o. o. and GK-Elektro.
The Mercedes-Benz engine production plant – the first one in Poland of the brand which belongs to Daimler AG – is located in the south-western province of Lower Silesia, approximately 70 km west of Wrocław, the capital of the province. It is currently under construction in the commune of Jawor, on a plot of around 100 ha, situated along the S3 express road in the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone. The plant is scheduled for launch at the end of 2019. At the plant, petrol and diesel engines for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars will be manufactured.
When planning the project, Daimler divided the works into stages. The works to be executed correspond to Stage 4.0 and cover the construction of several buildings: a production hall with a two-storey office and employee facility (buildings 1.1 and 1.2), a one-storey gate-house with the main entrance (building No. 102) and a gate-house for HVGs (building No. 101). The buildings No. 101, 102 and 1.1, are to be completed in February 2019. The building 1.2 in June 2019.
It is a second contract for Eiffage on this site. Last autumn, Eiffage was awarded a smaller contract for the execution of the foundation for the plant’s main building (under Stage 3.2).
Eiffage has vast experience and expertise in the construction of industrial buildings. Previously, the company was responsible for, amongst other, the extension of the Unilever production hall in Poznań, the modernization of the Michelin plant in Olsztyn and the construction of a logistics hall in Września, ordered by Volkswagen Poznań.
The overall value of Daimler AG’s investment in Jawor is estimated at around EUR 500 million. The Jawor factory will create 500 new workplaces for highly qualified staff, which – according to experts – will translate into additional jobs in the region for business partners, subcontractors and service providers.
