The call was issued by EPA Nice Eco-Vall\u00e9e.<b><\/b><br \/>\nJoia M\u00e9ridia is an example of a <i>macrolot<\/i>, a French term used to describe a uniform multi-functional urban area addressing various needs of its residents. In the native dialect of Nice, nissarda, the name of the district translates as \u201cenjoyment\u201d. In keeping with its name, Joia M\u00e9ridia is to become an open and friendly residential area, bustling with life 24\/7, and the epitome of a \u201ccity of tomorrow\u201d. It is a flagship project of Nice Eco-Vall\u00e9e \u2013 a new elegant district west of the centre of Nice, the largest city on<b><\/b>Cote d&#8217;Azur. Its planning concept, landscape insertion and 21<sup>st<\/sup> century architectural design are all intended by the project architects to contribute to improved life quality of the city\u2019s residents.<br \/>\nWithin the total area of 73,500 m<sup>2<\/sup>, Joia M\u00e9ridia will include 51,300 m<sup>2<\/sup> of housing (with 800 apartments), 7,900 m<sup>2<\/sup> of hotels and serviced accommodation, 4,685 \u00a0m<sup>2<\/sup> of retail, 2,850 m<sup>2<\/sup> of offices and service premises, as well as over 5,000 m<sup>2<\/sup> for the community leisure and recreational centre. Additionally, 1,220 private and public parking spaces are planned. Its mixed programming is carried towards the new practices, as shared and dynamic workplaces, hybrid buildings and flexible housing will be also built.<br \/>\nSustainability has been the guiding principle behind the design of Joia M\u00e9ridia. Both residential and public buildings are required to obtain environmental certificates. The green spaces are planned on 4,000 m<sup>2<\/sup>, of which 2,000 m<sup>2<\/sup> will be used for gardens. The power supplies for the entire district will come from its own purpose-built geothermal power plant.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe construction works on Joia M\u00e9ridia are to be completed in 7-8 years.<br \/>\n<b>Nice Eco-Vall\u00e9e<\/b> is a complex urban development project planned to be completed within the timeframe of 30 years. Altogether, it involves 15 communes in the valley of the River Var. The overarching objective of the project is to stimulate economic development of Nice, the metropolis on the French Riviera.
